Money Heist: Berlin – release date, trailer and latest news
Netflix's international phenomenon isn't over yet.
It's been two long years since Money Heist ended, but fans are now preparing to delve back into the soapy world of the hit franchise as spin-off Berlin arrives on Netflix.
Pedro Alonso reprises his role as the titular thief, who assembles a ragtag crew for an elaborate heist in Paris – but of course, things don't go entirely to plan.
The series enlists a largely new cast of characters, although fans can expect guest appearances from Itziar Ituño and Najwa Nimri as detectives Raquel Murillo and Alicia Sierra – appearing long before they crossed paths with The Professor.
If you like your drama with a healthy dash of romance, comedy and nail-biting suspense, this might be the show for you – read on for everything you need to know about Money Heist: Berlin on Netflix.
Money Heist: Berlin release date
Money Heist: Berlin is available to stream on Netflix from Friday 29th December 2023. All episodes will be available at once as a bingeable box set.
The project was first announced in November 2021 as fans bid farewell to the original series, which ended with an action-packed fifth season.
At the time, star Pedro Alonso said (via TVLine): "I'm so happy about it. I am deeply grateful to be able to connect with people all over the world and receive so much love and such a memorable time.
"We started this series walking into the unknown and we have been winning ever since. You fans are our accomplices and thank you for that."
Berlin cast: Which Money Heist characters will return?
Money Heist: Berlin sees actor Pedro Alonso return to the title role, which catapulted him to international stardom.
Earlier this year, it was announced that two other original cast members would be reprising their roles in the spin-off – Itziar Ituño as Raquel Murillo (later known as Lisbon) and Najwa Nimri as Alicia Sierra.
According to the trailer, they'll be working together to defuse a dangerous situation at some point in the series, revealing a secret history between Berlin and the formidable detectives.

Much of the focus, however, will be on the new characters created for this series.
Berlin's crew includes Begoña Vargas as Cameron, a woman with a dark past, Michelle Jenner as tech whizz Keila, Julio Peña as lockpicker Roi, Joel Sánchez as hired muscle Bruce, and Tristán Ulloa as Berlin's co-conspirator Damián.
Despite the fact that Berlin and The Professor had a close relationship in Money Heist – they were brothers, after all – Álvaro Morte is not expected to reprise his role in this series (he's rather busy with Prime Video's The Wheel of Time).
Berlin plot: What is the Money Heist spin-off about?
In case your memory is hazy, let us remind you that Berlin had a pretty definitive death at the end of Money Heist's second season, which would be impossible to come back from without shattering the audience's suspension of disbelief.
Therefore, this series takes us back to years earlier – before the thief was aware of his terminal illness – to an ambitious scheme he devised in Paris to steal priceless jewellery from an auction house.
Previously, Berlin's past was explored via flashback in the main Money Heist series, which unravelled a storyline involving his estranged son Rafael (Patrick Criado) and doomed marriage to Tatiana (Diana Gómez).
Once again, Berlin's twisted view of romance will play a role in the plot of this series.
